Hometown Magic

The world of the Last Library is a world where magic is part of the
weave and weft of reality. The world is, at large, peaceful. The
people that live in it are, for the most part, happy. The magic that
permeates the air, the land, and the water protects them, and
they in turn treat it with reverence and care. That connection to
the magic of the world gives every person living on it a Gift: a
mark of magic, some minor, useful, pleasant touch, as much a part
of them as their eye color or height. Small villages dot
countrysides and nestle comfortably into the sides of mountains,
stretch out lazily along shores or weave their way among the
branches of the forests. Far away from home, there are Cities, and
at the heart of each City, a College of Magic, where learned
Wizards debate the true nature of Magic, and Speak its Words to
achieve magical feats that are nearly unimaginable. But here, at
Home, those are all just stories of distant lands. Here, we live our
lives, and we take care of one another with the Gifts we’ve been
given.
